Special Memorial Day card at Scioto Downs

Columbus, OH — Eldorado Scioto Downs is hosting a special Memorial Day race card with 16 races on Monday (May 29) with a 5:50 p.m. first post.

Highlighting the card is the second leg of the Ohio Sires Stakes for 3-year-old pacing and trotting fillies.

A full field of 11 sophomore trotters will go behind the gate vying for $100,000. Rose Run Yolanda is the 4-1 morning line favorite for driver Brett Miller and trainer Todd Luther. The filly by Triumphant Caviar has two wins in three starts, including a 1:53.2 win at Miami Valley in the first leg of the Sires Stakes. Swinging Senorita (What The Hill), the 2022 Next Generation winner, is 5-1 for trainer Jason McGinnis, as is the Garry Martin trainee Global Girl (Global Republic S) who will be starting from the second tier.

Two divisions of sophomore pacing fillies will each go for $55,000. Hey Hey Mama for the Brian Brown barn is the heavy 8-5 morning line favorite in the first division. The filly by Downbytheseaside is a perfect five-for-five in 2023, including a 1:50.2 win in the first leg of the Sires Stakes.

In the second division Fear Of Sports (Fear The Dragon) is the lukewarm morning line favorite at 5-2 for trainer Kelly O’Donnell. Two Downbytheseaside fillies, Super Girl (for Virgil Morgan Jr.) and Mcseaside (for Ron Burke) round out the morning line favorite trifecta at 3-1 and 7-2, respectively.

Qualifiers will also be held on Memorial Day starting at 3:50 p.m.

The entire family will have something to do at Scioto as the Memorial Day races will be complemented with onsite food trucks, bouncy houses and a petting zoo. The first Racing Frenzy drawing of the season will also be held on Monday; anyone who places a $50 single-ticket live wager with a teller leading up to Monday will receive an entry that must be deposited on Memorial Day for the chance to win up to a $500 wager.

Due to the special Memorial Day race card, there will be no live racing on Tuesday (May 30). Racing will continue on Wednesday (May 31) at 3:15 p.m.
