Speed Hanover captures Earl Hallett Memorial Trot at Wauseon

by Bill Peters, Regional Coordinator, the Ohio Fair Racing Conference

Edgerton, OH — Speed Hanover (Cantab Hall-Speed Unlimited) captured the Earl Hallett Memorial Trot on Tuesday (Sept. 8) at the Fulton County Fair in Wauseon, Ohio.

The 8-year-old gelding completed his mile in 1:58.4 for owner-driver Larry Farley. Steve Boroff is Speed Hanover’s trainer.

The mile was the fastest trot for the two-day meet and was only three-fifths of a second off Rompaway Beau’s trotting track record.

The 6-year-old gelding Divulge (Tell All-Pop Diva) turned in the fastest pacing mile at the fair when he circled the Wauseon twice-around in 1:56.3 in winning a conditioned pace on Saturday (Sept. 5). Angela Ott owns Divulge with her father Tony Marts performing the training and driving duties.

Mark Headworth had six driving wins at the meet to pace all drivers. Pierce Henry, Jim Mulinix, and Bill Webb each had two training wins to lead that category.

Hats off to the speed committee of Bill Serna and Jamie Buehrer for their hard work in making the harness racing program at the Fulton County Fair a huge success. Plans are already being made to make it even better in 2016.

Harness racing in the Ohio Fair Racing Conference will continue at the Williams County Fair at Montpelier on Tuesday (Sept. 15) and Thursday (Sept. 17). Tuesday’s action will begin with a 6:30 p.m. first post while Thursday’s Senior Citizens Day program will start at 1:30 p.m.
