Stefan “The Doz” Dorosz, 78, dies

Columbus, OH — Stefan “The Doz” Dorosz, 78, passed away on April 5. He was born November 10, 1945, in Germany to his late parents, Olga and Dmytro Dorosz. After moving to the United States with his family, he attended Central High School of Philadelphia where he excelled as a tight end.

After high school the Doz was drafted and sent to Vietnam, he served two years as a Corporal in the U. S. Army. He said his time there had changed his life forever.

Doz married his sweetheart Maria (Mary), who he nicknamed “Marush” and bought a farm in Perkasie, PA. Together they raced horses, chickens, and other various animals. Doz worked as a machinist at Schutte & Koerting where he was President of local 929 for 35 years. Doz’s passion, however, was owning and training Harness horses, while he had many horses over the years such as Antares Diamond, Q and A, and R Sam, the horse that bought him the most pleasure was “Metatron” an old iron horse that in 1986 had 52 starts, Doz always used to say he never missed a week.

Doz was a large man, with an even larger heart, he would help anyone in need, friend, stranger, it didn’t matter to Doz, if you needed help, he would drop whatever he was doing and be there as soon as he could. His loud laugh and positive attitude will be greatly missed by those who knew him.
