Columbus, OH – Stephen Charles Moore, 73, of Washington Court House passed away on June 6, 2025, at the Grant Medical Center in Columbus.
Steve was born on July 21, 1951, in Fayette County, Ohio to the late Virgil and Virginia (Chaney) Moore. He was a member of the Washington Senior High School graduating class of 1970. Steve had a passion for horses and was a lifelong Standardbred trainer and driver. He was a member of the Fayette County Harness Horsemen’s Association and the United States Trotting Association. He had worked for a time at Armco Steel and Steelox but had more recently worked as a truck driver for Hogan Trucking.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Roxie “Noreen” Ford, and a brother, Virgil Dean Moore.
Survivors include his wife, the former Connie Haynes, whom he married November 10, 1978; his sons and daughters-in-law, Jason (Diane) Moore of Mt. Orab, Jeremy (Ellen) Moore of WCH, and Samuel Moore of WCH; grandchildren, Victoria Mae Moore (Michael Stritenberger), Taaylor (Jeremiah) Cook, and Chazney (Adam) Holmes; great grandchildren, Jamahl Kuebler, Ava, Harper, and Xander Holmes, and Scarlet Mae Stritenberger; sisters, Patricia (Jack) Fox of Ashville and Dorothy (Jerry) Edwards of Greenfield; brothers, David (Anita) Moore of WCH and Phillip (Peg) Moore of Wilmington; brother-in-law, Robert (Lisa) Haynes; honorary sister, Julia (Ed) Jourdan, as well as his many beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephew, and his many friends.
A funeral service is planned for 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at the Roberts Funeral Home in Washington Court House with Pastor Danny Dodds officiating. Burial will follow in the Highlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11am until the start of the service.
