EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – January 21, 2005 – Stonebridge Kisses [$9.60, $4.40, $4.00] surged passed Jet Lag N [$3.80, $3.80] in the final strides to capture the $47,500 mares open feature by a length and three quarters in on Friday night at the Meadowlands.
It was two and a half lengths back to Female Champs [$6.60] in third.
Driven by Yannick Gingras and trained by Mark Ford, Stonebridge Kisses posted her second win in her third start of the year and increased her lifetime earning to $203,320 for owner Martin Scharf of Lawrence, New York. Stonebridge Kisses paced the mile in 1:52.4.
In the sixth race, first of two $20,000 divisions of the Complex Series, My Buddy Bob [$7.60, $5.00, $3.80] won the photo finish by a nose over JK Royal Flush [$7.80, $6.60]. Prince Vince [$4.80] came in third.
My Buddy Bob, driven by Patrick Berry, paced the mile in 1:53.2. The five-year-old son of Cole Muffler is trained and co-owned by Rick Dane Jr. in partnership with Michael and Laura Lee of Bridgeview, Illinois.
In the eighth race, second division, Rare Jewel [$7.40, $5.80, $3.20], with driver Brian Sears, cruised to a length and a quarter victory in 1:53.4 over Bay Sign [$17.20, $8.80]. Fox Valley Assault [$5.80] finished two lengths back in third.
Trained by Richard Banca, Rare Jewel notched his first win in his third start of the year for owner Norman Vartanian of Hamilton, Ontario.
The Complex Series concludes next Saturday with a $95,000 final.
