Striking Count tops Blooded Horse Winter Sale

Springfield, OH — The 60th annual Blooded Horse Winter Sale was held Wednesday (Feb. 15) at the Champions Center, in Springfield, Ohio.

Once again, the Burke Racing Stable brought a consignment that included the sale topper, Striking Count. The 4-year-old conditioned trotter was purchased by Cory Stratton of New York for $36,000. Other solid racehorses from the Burke consignment were the conditioned pacers Bet On Blake, who went to John Wagner of Virginia for $25,000, and Jacana, who was purchased by Beachy Brothers Ltd. for $23,000.

The Spring Haven Farm consignment was led by the Uncle Peter mare Pine Creek. In foal to Indiana sire Dover Dan, she was purchased by Mahlon Miller of Ohio for $25,000.

Spring Haven Farm was also the agent for one of the first offspring of Cattlewash to be sold at auction. Donnie Patterson of Tennessee got the nod at $14,000 for the young yearling colt.
