Grove City, OH — The Sugg brothers, Duke, and Kurt, each collected a win in Buckeye Stallion Series action Tuesday (July 11) at Eldorado Scioto Downs. The four $20,000 divisions of freshman trotting fillies closed out the first leg in the BSS.

The brothers turned in identical times of 1:59.1 as Duke drove Legacy Affair to victory in the second division, while older brother Kurt had the lines for Midnight Nolan in the final division.

Legacy Affair sat fourth, 7-1/2 lengths off the lead at the half, moved into contention up the backstretch, and went three-wide around the final turn to grab the lead. The daughter of Long Tom, an 11-1 longshot, opened up to win by five lengths. Sugg trains and co-owns Legacy Affair, with Steven Maas and Michael Lee. It was the first career win for Legacy Affair. Gabbys Treasure finished second with Mystery Auntie third.

Not to be outdone by his younger brother, Kurt took Midnight Nolan from sixth to first heading to the half and never looked back, cruising to a 3-1/2 length victory. It was the first career win for the Uncle Peter filly who is trained by Dan Walski and owned by Walski Stables. All About Faith was second with Eckert Hill Carrie third.

In the first division of the night, Tony Hall worked Justasiam AS through the field from eighth place, went three wide around the final turn, and charged down the stretch to win by a half-length in 1:59.1. The daughter of Lionhunter was making her first career start for trainer Anette Lorentzon. Justasiam AS is owned by ACL Stuteri AB. Hot Tea finished second with Hips Like Honey finishing third.

Pierres Serenade with David Myers raced to the lead at the quarter and fought off challenges from Esteso and Rememberwhatusaid down the lane to win by a half-length. It was the third win in three starts for the Uncle Peter filly. Owned and trained by Ted Gawron, Pierres Serenade has earned $18,551 this year. Esteso was second with Rememberwhatusaid third.

Buckeye Stallion Series action continues Friday night (July 14) at Scioto with the opening of the fourth leg for 3-year-old filly trotters. First race post time is 5:50 p.m.
