Ft. Washington, MD — Sunday Afternoon ($9.80) and Eric Davis sat the perfect pocket trip behind the pacesetter Got The Gold and won the $12,000 Open Handicap for mares Tuesday night (Sept. 26) at Rosecroft on a track labeled ‘good’ in 1:54.2.
It was the fourth win of the year for the 8-year-old mare by Dali. It was the second start in the Bib Roberts Barn after being acquired from the Carmen Auciello stable.
The race was reduced to a field of five with three scratches, including morning line favorite Always B First, strong closer See Ya Mystery, third in last week’s Open, and Pasta Momma at post time, as she was one of the betting contenders, 5-2 at the time of her state vet scratch.
Trae Porter won four times in the first seven races on the Tuesday night card, while Jonathan Roberts and Justin Walters each won twice.
