Sweden’s San Moteur seeks Prix de Bretagne victory

Paris — The race to the Prix d’Amérique starts Sunday afternoon (Nov. 19) at Vincennes, with the first of the four so-called “B-races”: the Prix de Bretagne.

This race, established in 1966, has never been won by a foreign trotter. Top Swedish top trotter Sam Moteur, driven by Björn Goop, will look to be the first to do so.

San Moteur, who has won 19 races from 27 starts and was second in the Elitlopp, is one of four foreign trotters in the 18-horse Prix de Bretagne field.

Also, Italian mare Ampia Mede SM (driven by Franck Nivard) is in with a big chance to win Sunday. She finished second in the 2023 Prix d’Amérique to French trotter Hooker Berry, who also is in the lineup.

The Prix de Bretagne is raced over the same 2,700 meters (1-11/16 miles) as the Prix d’Amérique from a standing start. The total purse is €120,000.

The race is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. EST and can be followed online at www.letrot.com.
