Sectionline Bigry is still the big guy for owner Harry Lee Bauder. A homebred 8-year-old pacer, Sectionline Bigry has enjoyed another memorable season in 2023. He surpassed $1 million in lifetime purses with a victory in the Ohio Breeders Championship at the Delaware County Fairgrounds — Bauder’s home track — and notched his 50th career triumph with a win in an Ohio Sire Stakes final in October at Northfield Park.

Happy for the ‘Road’ taken
John Ryan Melsheimer was not looking to buy Adamsville Road when he went to the 2020 Lexington Selected Yearling Sale. But Melsheimer’s regard for the trotter’s mother, as well as a bargain price, resulted in the horse coming home with the Ohio-based trainer. It has proved to be a fortunate outcome.

Two 3-year-olds have defeated older rivals in the history of the FanDuel (formerly TVG) Championships at The Meadowlands. On Saturday, one of those winners’ sons will look to duplicate the accomplishment. Three-year-old colt Tactical Approach will take on six older male foes in the FanDuel Open Trot Championship at the Big M. His sire, Tactical Landing, won the event in 2018, when another 3-year-old, Six Pack, finished second.
Maxim Hanover hopes to continue winning ways in Governor’s Cup
The connections of Maxim Hanover hoped to see their 2-year-old male pacer develop as this season progressed, and after watching the colt win four of his past five races, it looks as though the plan is coming to fruition. Maxim Hanover, who had three second-place finishes among six winless starts to begin his career, captured the Matron Stakes on Nov. 2 and heads to Saturday’s $454,000 Governor’s Cup final for freshman male pacers at The Meadowlands off a lifetime-best-equaling 1:52 victory in one of last week’s two eliminations.
Miraculous Deo follows in ‘Worldly’ hoofprints
For more than two decades, Worldly Beauty has made an appreciable impact on owner Mike Gulotta’s life. First, she was an award-winning racehorse — with her success on the track even contributing to his grandson’s name — followed by her role as the impetus behind Gulotta starting Deo Volente Farms three years after her retirement. On Saturday night at The Meadowlands, her influence will continue to be felt when her daughter, Deo Volente-bred-and-owned Miraculous Deo, competes in the sole elimination for the Three Diamonds Stakes for 2-year-old female pacers.
