The second annual Harnessing Hope fundraiser, held at Maine’s Cumberland Fair, concluded on Saturday (Oct. 3) with the completion of its driving competition and the contesting of the inaugural Harnessing Hope All Women Drivers Breast Cancer Awareness Invitational Pace. The fundraiser brought together members of the Maine harness racing industry with racing fans to raise money for charitable causes selected by Maine drivers.

Snowonthepines gets No. 19 at Farmington (Maine)
Snowonthepines, Maine’s top 3-year-old pacing filly, picked up her 19th lifetime win on Monday (Sept. 21) at the Farmington Fair by way of a wire-to-wire score in a non-wagering $17,209 Maine Sire Stakes event, and she retained her perfect record in doing so.
Pembroke Scorpio on winning track at Skowhegan (Maine)
Pembroke Scorpio won for the seventh time over the Skowhegan State Fair half-mile oval with a 1:59 win on Friday (Aug. 16). It’s a pretty remarkable feat considering he’s only raced over that track 11 times during his career. And with one of those early efforts at Skowhegan resulting in a shortly-held divisional track record of 1:53.1, it seems like the now 13-year-old has saved some of his best efforts for this particular stop on the Maine fair circuit.
