Don Marean has worn a lot of hats in his long and storied career in harness racing , which dates to the 1980s. But, no matter what position Marean has held, the bottom line for him was, is, and continues to be the well-being of Standardbreds. And currently, Marean, now 84, continues to work for the secure future of Standardbreds after their racing careers conclude.

Plainridge Park welcomes back live racing Monday, April 13
Live racing returns to New England’s premier harness track on Monday (April 13) at 4 p.m. when Plainridge Park opens its 2026 season. The 110-day meet will run through Tuesday (Nov. 24) and feature some of the best horses, drivers and trainers in North America who will compete in high-caliber overnight and stakes action all year long.
