HISA Furosemide Advisory Committee finds Lasix non-performance enhancing, but 48-hour restriction for stakes and 2-year-olds remains
After considering a report from their Furosemide Advisory Committee that determined that furosemide (Lasix) is not performance enhancing in horses, on April 24, the Board of Directors of the Horseracing Integrity and Safety Authority (HISA) unanimously approved resolutions regarding the use of furosemide (Lasix) 48 hours prior to a race.

On Saturday (May 2), horse racing history was made when Golden Tempo won the Kentucky Derby for Cherie Devaux, making her the first female trainer to win the Run for the Roses in the 152nd edition of the race.
USTA Executive Committee expands to 21 members
On Wednesday (April 29), U.S. Trotting Association President Russell Williams announced the members of the organization’s expanded Executive Committee. The committee, which previously consisted of 16 members, added five in accordance with an amendment passed during the Annual Meeting in March.
