Test Of Faith, Allywag Hanover lead Tuesday Philadelphia qualifiers

Chester, PA — Some of North America’s best pacers, both of the 3-year-old and older variety, will be going to the gate on Tuesday morning (May 15) in qualifiers at Harrah’s Pennsylvania.

The 2021 Horse of the Year Test Of Faith goes behind the gate for her 5-year-old bow from post four in the fifth qualifier Tuesday. The daughter of Art Major, a winner of 33 of 44 races and $2,389,782 for owners Melvin Segal, Kentuckiana Racing Stable, and Eddie Gran, is yet another product of the excellent barn of trainer Brett Pelling. David Miller will be in the mare’s sulky, where he was when she was also named divisional champion last year.

Sire Captaintreacherous will be represented by the standout 6-year-old Allywag Hanover, starting from the outside post six for trainer Pelling and driver Todd McCarthy in the third qualifier. A divisional champion at four and a career winner of $1,671,380 for Allywag Stable, the pacer’s 2022 highlight was an upsetting of unanimous Horse of the Year choice Bulldog Hanover at Lexington in 1:46.

Charleston and My Little Captain, a pair of fillies finishing a nose apart in that order in a 1:55 qualifier here last Tuesday, will be squaring off again in race four. Charleston, a daughter of Downbytheseaside to be driven by Jack Pelling for trainer/father Brett for owner Diamond Creek Racing, starts from the rail after earning $338,605 at two. The Captaintreacherous miss My Little Captain, who won $195,847 at two, will start from post four for driver David Miller, trainer Andrew Stafford, and the ownership of EVM Racing.

Qualifiers begin on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. at Harrah’s Philadelphia.
