On Sunday, 750,000 Euros will be distributed in the world’s largest under-saddle race, the Prix de Cornulier at Vincennes – where 13 of the 18 starting horses are mares.
Top-level uner-saddle racing has developed into a specialty for mares – this is not only emphasized by the overwhelming dominance of mares in the starting list but also by the fact that since 2014, eight of the winners in the Prix de Cornulier have been mares.
It is also interesting to look at the list of breeding stallions represented in this race.
They are primarily stallions with pure or very French blood in them – for example, there are only two offspring from Ready Cash.
The race distance is the same as in the Prix d’Amérique – 1-11/16 miles (2,700 m) with a standing start.
The race record is held by Bilibili in 1.54.2 (mile rate).
The starting list is as follows:
- Jasmine de Vau (Seduisant Fouteau) – Guillaume Lenain
- Jezabelle Bie (Dijon) – Adrien Lamy
