Three MADC races on Saturday Meadowlands card

East Rutherford, NJ — The MADC series held three events on Saturday night (June 10) at the Big M. Only one of the three post time favorites won Saturday night and the last race featured some eye-popping payouts.

The first race on the card featured a scratched down field of eight pacers going to post and when the gates closed it was “Pistol” Pete Kleinhans who sent Takeittotheface to the lead, which proved to be a winning move. He was overtaken briefly at the three-quarter pole by post time favorite Jackamino (Jim King Solomon), but was able to overtake him in the stretch for the victory. Solomon held on for second with his pacer while Yayas Hot Spot N (McKenzie Sowers) got up for the show dough. The mile was paced in 1:54. The 9-year-old gelding is owned by Ivy Kariuki and is trained by James Foley.

In the fifth race on the card, nine pacers went to post and after some early hardball between several horses vying for the lead, it was Big Bad Bill (“Yankee” Joe Lee) who made a three-wide sweep to the lead and was able to hang on by a neck over hard charging Shortys Girl (Jake “The Snake” Stillwell). Premier Joy A (McKenzie Sowers) rounded out the trifecta. The mile went in 1:53.2. The 9-year-old gelding is owned by Joseph Loprete and is trained by Julius Czermann Jr.

The seventh race and final MADC race featured ten pacers going to post and after another scramble for the lead that made for a fast 26.3 first quarter, “Yankee” Joe Lee made a quarter move with longshot Seeuinnashville A and this proved to be the winning strategy. Lee, who landed a driving double paid a generous $43.60 for all of his backers. The longest shot on the board, Preppy Art (Newton “Yogi” Sheridan) ended up second to make for a huge exacta that paid over $2,000 for a $2 wager. Rounding out this trifecta was Party Boy (Michael Kimelman). The mile was timed in 1:52.4. The 9-year-old gelding is owned and trained by Carl Tirella.

The MADC will be back next week on Friday with the first post scheduled for 6:20 p.m.
