A reporter, columnist, and sports writer whose name in the region is often synonymous with great reporting on local teams and athletes, Archdeacon’s career spans more than five decades.  He often wrote about horse racing, both harness and Thoroughbred racing.

Archdeacon began his career with the Dayton Daily News in 1989, and has covered sports, as well as historic events that mark our lives. “Arch” is well-known for sharing the facts and breaking news, while also telling the stories that give those historic moments meaning and connect with readers.

He is described in his newspaper bio as “award-winning columnist Tom Archdeacon is an old-school storyteller who writes about sports, the city, southwest Ohio and anything else that catches his fancy or yours.”

The three other recipients are early Ohio pioneer Charity Broady, Emmy and Grammy Award-winning comedian/actor Dave Chappelle, and retired Five Rivers MetroParks CEO Marvin Olinsky.

The Dayton Region Walk of Fame luncheon will be held on Oct. 11, 2023 at Sinclair Community College located at 444 W Third St, Dayton, OH 45402.
