Yonkers, NY — Trainer Darran Cassar reached 1,000 wins in his training career on Thursday night (Aug. 1) at MGM Yonkers Raceway.
Cassar hit the landmark in race three when his Benhope Rulz N, a 10-year-old gelding by Courage Under Fire, dead-heated for a 1:53.2 victory with Saddle Up, who was piloted by trainer Joe Bongiorno. Benhope Rulz N was driven by Yannick Gingras.
The 46-year-old Cassar has sent out earners of $14,920,139 to go with his 1,000 tallies. Cassar enjoyed his best campaign in 2014 when he had 84 winners from 526 starters and saw his horses bank $1,463,920.
MGM Yonkers Raceway is currently operating on a Monday/Tuesday and Thursday through Saturday live racing schedule with post time at 7 p.m. (EDT), but the oval will be live the next two Wednesdays (Aug. 7 and 14) as well.
