Trotter’s Gold returns as 2023 Hambletonian beer of choice

East Rutherford, NJ — In celebration of the 98th edition of America’s greatest harness race, the Hambletonian Society, Meadowlands Racetrack and Ghost Hawk Brewing Company have once again teamed up to provide fans and guests with Trotter’s Gold 2023.

The $1 million Hambletonian will be raced Saturday afternoon (Aug. 5) as the finale to the championship meet at The Meadowlands Racetrack. Post time is noon.

Labeled “Trotters Gold 2023,” the Clifton, N.J., based brewery has produced a 4.8 percent abv American golden ale. It will be sold at The Meadowlands Racetrack starting Friday (July 7) and at Ghost Hawk Brewing. The beer can be rated here.

The 16 ounce beer can label features 2022 Hambletonian winner Cool Papa Bell and driver Todd McCarthy.

“We love that Trotter’s Gold has become part of the Hambletonian tradition at the Meadowlands,” said Rachel Ryan, Director of Marketing and Onsite Events. “This year’s beer is the best one yet — a crisp, dry ale, perfect for summer.”

Ghost Hawk Brewing Company is a collaborative effort between two Clifton natives — Tom Rachelski and Steve Bauer. Fueled with the addition of decorated Brewmaster Chris Sheehan to the project in 2018, the brewery project kicked into high gear. Ghost Hawk Brewing Company opened its doors in April 2019.
