Tuesday triple feature at Plainridge

Plainville, MA — Three $15,000 conditioned races topped the program at Plainridge Park on Tuesday afternoon (Nov. 21) with solid mutuels being yielded in two of them.

The lone trot was won by Emmajean Jellybean (Steve Wilson), who tripped out in third until making a first-over move past the half that saw her take the lead at three-quarters. Emmajean Jellybean took her lead into the stretch and held off a late closing Deli Tessel (Nick Graffam) to win by a neck in 1:57.2.

Emmajean Jellybean ($17.60) is owned by R Nelson DiPompo Jr., Michael Graham, Pamela Smith and Jane DiPompo, and is trained by Charlene Cushing.

Then the first of two paces was won by Colt Bennett (Jay Randall), who followed the cover of Wicked Scorcha (Jim Hardy) in pursuit of the heavily favored pacesetter A Deal’s A Deal (Shawn Gray) heading to three-quarters. Randall tipped Colt Bennett three-wide at the top of the stretch and chased down A Deal’s A Deal at the line to win by a head in 1:56.1.

The Massachusetts-bred Colt Bennett ($11.00) is owned and trained by Nancy Longobardi.

Finally, Vels Scotty Boy (Bruce Ranger) sat third as Isitfridayyet (Nick Graffam) skated to the half on top. Ranger then tipped Vels Scotty Boy at the five-eighths, drew alongside Isitfridayyet at three-quarters, and then battled him all the way down the lane until he got the advantage and the win by a length in 1:55.4.

It was the second straight win for Vels Scotty Boy ($6.20), who is owned and trained by John Asara.

Matty Athearn and Jay Randall both had driving doubles while eight different trainers each scored one win apiece.

The Wicked Hi-5 pentafecta was hit in race six on Tuesday. The combination of 1-3-6-5-4 returned $2,192 for a 20-cent wager.

There will be no racing at Plainridge Park this Thursday (Nov. 23) in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday. Live racing at Plainridge Park will resume on Friday (Nov. 24) with post time at 1 p.m.
