Milton, ON — Tuscan Prince won the second race Friday night (Aug. 25) at Woodbine Mohawk Park, a C$100,400 Ontario Sires Stakes (OSS) Gold division for three-year-old trotting colts and geldings.

Louis-Philippe Roy took Tuscan Prince (Kadabra) straight to the front out of post five and kept the lead through fractions of 28.1, 57.2, and 1:24.3.

He was challenged in deep stretch by Hasty Bid (My Mvp) and driver James MacDonald, but Tuscan Prince proved too strong, crossing the wire at 1:52.3.

Ghostly Casper (Resolve) rounds out the top three driven by Sylvain Filion.

Roy touches on the Kadabra colt’s second OSS win of the season.

“You can rush him, you can lead with him, he’s a good horse.”

Tuscan Prince is trained by Luc Blais and has made $284,519 over the course of his career for owner Determination (Montreal, Que.).

“The horse was feeling good,” said Roy. “I’m sure he’s going to give it back to us the rest of the season.”

The second-place finish for Hasty Bid collected $24,598 for owner Paige Austin and now has over $125,000 in OSS earnings this year.

Ghostly Casper the Benoit Baillargeon trainee has $176,832 in OSS earnings this year for Baillargeon and his ownership partners Teresa Davidson, Santo Vena, and Nunzio Vena.

Tuscan Princes’ Gold win paid $6.40.

The second OSS Gold division of the night for three-year-old trotting colts and geldings was race eight on the card, and favourite Osceola (Muscle Mass) driven by Douglas McNair came away with the win.

Osceola’s first-place finish brought his OSS earnings to $76,552 this year.

The Hazelton (Muscle Mass) came in second while Musical Ride (Musical Rhythm) completed the podium in third.

In race nine, Ontario Sired Climb The Pole (Kadabra) won a division of a Grand Circuit Casual Breeze for three-year-old trotting fillies.
