Lexington, KY — The Red Mile is proud to announce that Kentucky-native artist Tyler Robertson will create the official artwork for the 132nd Kentucky Futurity, held during the celebration of The Red Mile’s 150th racing season.
Known for his bold, modern take on traditional subjects, Robertson will produce a live, on-track painting on Kentucky Futurity Day, Oct. 6, offering racing fans a unique and interactive experience.
Robertson will complete an official historical painting of the Kentucky Futurity live at The Red Mile during the races, allowing fans to witness the creative process firsthand. Spectators will also have the chance to interact with Tyler, ask questions, and observe his technique, which features striking compositions, vibrant colors, and intricate line work.
Once completed, this one-of-a-kind piece will be raffled off at The Red Mile on Oct. 6, with all proceeds going to support The Standardbred Transition Alliance. This initiative underscores The Red Mile’s commitment to both the arts and the local equine community.
In addition to the live painting, Robertson will create a special commemorative painting of the winning horse from the 132nd Kentucky Futurity which will be presented to the winner of the race. This exclusive piece will capture the spirit and excitement of the Kentucky Futurity, one of the premier trotting events in the world of harness racing and the final leg of the Trotting Triple Crown.
Robertson’s work offers a modern take on traditional equestrian and sporting subjects. His dynamic compositions, bold color palettes, and masterful use of line and texture have quickly garnered attention across the art world. His career has expanded to include projects for major brands like Maker’s Mark, Churchill Downs, and prestigious global galleries.
In addition to these notable commissions, Robertson has collaborated with high-profile events such as the Kentucky Derby and the PGA Tour, where his art has captured the essence of these iconic sports through his distinctive, bold style.
“I am thrilled to be involved with the 132nd Kentucky Futurity, an iconic event that celebrates the rich tradition of harness racing,” said Robertson. “As an artist, capturing the energy, speed, and elegance of these incredible athletes — both human and equine — has always been a passion of mine. Being part of this historic race is an honor, and I’m excited to share my work with the community that has such a deep connection to the sport.”
The 132nd Kentucky Futurity will be held on the final day of the Grand Circuit meet on Oct. 6.
