Vernon Downs, NY – Unusual Clarity (Steeven Genois) won the $7,500 feature fillies & mares pace at Vernon Downs on Saturday (Sept. 27).

Unusual Clarity ($16.06) darted out to the lead and led to the quarter in :27.1. She used a 30-second quarter to be first to the half in :57.1. Forgot Thewallet A (Tom Merton) came first-up to challenge as they headed to the final turn. The two raced side by side around the last turn. Unusual Clarity led to three quarters in 1:25.
As they reached the stretch, second-place finisher Quarrel (Chris Long) came charging late but Unusual Clarity dug in and held on to win in 1:52.4. Bell Of Lazarus (Leon Bailey) finished third.
Unusual Clarity is a 10-year-old mare by Betterthancheddar. She is owned by Nicholas Gibides and trained by Ron Harp. It was her fourth win this season. She has now finished first 43 times in her career.
Chris Long had a driving grand slam. He combined with trainer Michelle Warner (training hat trick) to get wins with Valor, Miley Rose, and Parousia. He got his other win with Two Star Magic.
Vernon Downs returns to live racing on Friday (Oct. 3) with a post time of 5:05 p.m.
