USTA to reconduct District 6B director election

Columbus, OH – Due to a printing company’s merge error that resulted in “mismatched” ballots being sent to District 6B members, the USTA could not guarantee the validity of those ballots received in the membership director election involving the incumbent, Dr. Andy Roberts, and the challenger, Steve Stewart.

Under the advice of both its counsel and Plante Moran, the independent accounting firm overseeing the receipt and counting of the election ballots, the USTA has declared that contest invalid and all received votes have been discarded.

A new election in District 6B will take place immediately, with an adjusted deadline of Tuesday, January 23, 2024.

All members in District 6B, which includes the states of Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and West Virginia, will be receiving the new, yellow-colored ballot and postage-paid return envelope.

The USTA urges all 6B members who have already voted to please vote again and to those who didn’t vote previously to do so.

The USTA apologizes for the confusion. Should you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact USTA Secretary Michele Kopiec by phone (614-224-2291, ext. 3294) or via email (michele.kopiec@ustrotting.com).
