Verruso wins MADC event at Meadowlands Saturday night

East Rutherford, NJ – Sometimes you’re so bad, you’re good. Although a play on words of sorts for Saturday’s (April 13) MADC race of eight pacers, the betting public’s choice, Yer So Bad, lived up to the hype, with his normal late closing kick.

After a give and go just after the quarter for the two early leaders, Yer So Bad (Anthony Verruso) got away last from his outside post eight but seemed undeterred by this. That’s because the outer flow was out and found early so before the half he got a third over trip with some lively flow and before the final turn he moved up a few spots and was in contention heading into the lane.

In the end, he collared the early leaders and ended up winning by two lengths, tripping the beam in a final time of 1:53.3. Gazoo (Michael Kimelman) got up for second while the early longshot leader, American Chrome (Newton “Yogi” Sheridan) held on for a third place finish.

The Symon Spicer trained 7-year old gelding is co-owned by Karen Taft out of NJ and Verruso himself, who resides in NY.

The MADC pacers will be back next Friday (April 19) on the card with the first post scheduled for 6:20 p.m.
