Denton, MD – W. Ken Wood of Denton, MD, passed away on Saturday after a lengthy illness. He was 82 years old.

Born at home in Ridgely on October 22, 1943, Kenny was the son of the late Stephen M. Wood and Rose M. Shortall Wood. His beloved wife, Betsy, passed away February 6, 2025.
Kenny was a 1961 graduate of North Caroline High School near Ridgely. He was the owner and operator of Lifetime Wells in Denton. He was an active life-time member of the St. Benedict’s Roman Catholic Church in Ridgely. He was also very active in Harness Racing. Trainer,driver,and owner with the most recent being a partner on J L Cruze (first trotter to break 1:50 at The Meadowlands and winner of over $2 million racing thru his 14th year). He was the Dan Patch “older” trotter of the year in 2015.
Ken was internationally known for Lifetime Wells International and its philanthropic mission of drilling for clean waters in communities in Ghana as well as restoring eyesight to thousands of people in Africa.
Kenny is survived by one son, Benjamin Wood and his wife Tracy; a daughter, Patricia Arevalo of Denton; a brother, Stephen P. Wood (Lynn) of Sherwood, MD and a sister, Barbara Wood of Denton; 6 grandchildren: Shelby Wood, Jack Wood, Nicholas Wood, Louisa Arevalo, Aidan Barrett, and Ava Barrett; and fifteen nieces and nephews: Gwen Wood, Amy Litaker, Nora Moss, Thomas Alexander, Dale Adkins, Cindy Gaertner, Jeff Adkins, Thomas Adkins, David Wood, Diana Walker, Brian Wood, Amos Crosgrove, Katie Crosgrove, Jacob Crosgrove, and Will Crosgrove. In addition to his parents and wife, Kenny is preceded in death by a son, Andrew Wood, and a sister, Rose Marie Wood.
Friends can call from 5 until 8 on Sunday, July 19th, at the Moore Funeral Home, P.A. located at 12 South Second Street in Denton. Because of the size of the service, the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Monday, July 20th at the St.’s Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Church located at 1214 S. Washington Street in Easton, MD. The interment will follow in the Denton Cemetery.
