Walden Woods finishes the job this week

Fort Washington, MD – Last week, Walden Woods finished second in the $12,000 Open I pace, losing a late lead literally in the final strides.

This week on Thursday evening (Feb. 29), the 6-year-old son of Betting Line rolled to the top in the first turn and never looked back for Roger Plante securing his second win in six starts and has been on the board in all six this year. (Samuel) Wayne Young owns and trains the 19-time winner who pushed lifetime earnings to $162,103. Sea Of Life chased valiantly for second while Shim was third.

In the $10,000 Open II category, Mach Le More A edged past the leader Marco Beach in the stretch to win for Johnathan Ahle. Tyler Long owns the winner trained by Clifford Scofield.

Jonathan Roberts secured three wins on the card as did Ahle and Trea Porter. Porter won with Sweetheart Deal in a new lifetime mark of 151.3 for owner Gary Crescenze and 21-year old trainer Amanda Blackford, who trains for Crescenze and wife Tammy’s Northern Creek Farms. It was her fifth win in 2024 as  the young horsemen continue to impact the Rosecroft meet.

William Carter, Frank Milby Eric Davis and Kubi Erzene also drove winners on the card.
