Wayne Willis Johnson, 66, dies

Columbus, OH — Wayne Willis Johnson, 66, aka Deadeye, died May 7, 2023, at his home near Paducah, Ky.

He was born and raised in Michigan and graduated from Dwight Eisenhower High School.

He is survived by his wife, Janet; son, Jason; sister, Sherry; and brother, Steve.

He was introduced to harness racing by his parents, Edsel and Juliet Johnson. He started working at the track during the summers at a young age. He was mentored by the late Roger Edwards and Eddie Morgan Jr at that time.

He raced all over Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, Kentucky, Mississippi, Virginia, New Jersey, and Maryland. He spent over 50 years doing what he loved to do. It was his passion in life.
