Woodbine Mohawk Park celebrates turning 60

Milton, ON — Woodbine Entertainment is excited to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Woodbine Mohawk Park this weekend.

A crowd of 4,338 turned out for the opening of Mohawk Raceway on April 26, 1963. Now 60 years later, Woodbine Mohawk Park is the industry-leading home of year-round world class Standardbred racing.

The Campbellville oval has been the site of many historic moments over the years and is poised to continue adding magical memories with its current lucrative stakes program. Names like Cam Fella, Odies Fame, Admiral’s Express, Peaceful Way, Somebeachsomewhere, San Pail and Bulldog Hanover are a small group of the legendary horses to have wowed the crowd at Mohawk.

To kick-off the 60th anniversary celebrations, Woodbine Mohawk Park will be offering up some treats to fans this weekend. On both Friday and Saturday evening, the first 300 fans in the doors will receive cupcakes. There will also be strolling entertainment and a specialty drink available for purchase. Saturday evening’s card will also feature a special commemorative program and the evening’s seventh race will be the “Mohawk 60th Anniversary Pace.”

To coincide with the 60th celebrations, Woodbine Mohawk Park will also debut its new Track Lights Color Show following race seven on Friday and Saturday. Recent upgrades to new LED track lights allows for special effects, including synchronized light and audio shows that match those seen in arenas and stadiums of major sporting events.

As for the action on the track, Ontario Sired Graduate Series third leg action headlines both nights of live racing. The Ontario Graduate for 4-year-old trotters and 4-year-old pacing mares will take place Friday, while the 4-year-old Open Pace division goes Saturday.

Post time for each night of live racing is 7 p.m.
