Meadow Lands, PA –– Hip Huggers, owned by Sylvia Burke, Ron Burke, and Frederick Koechlin, is the 3-1 morning line favorite in a balanced Fillies and Mares Preferred Pace on Friday (November 26) at The Meadows.
The returning winner, Hip Huggers is saddled with post position seven and will have Mike Wilder back in the sulky. In her last effort, she made a quarter pole move to the lead and narrowly defeated her stablemate La Diabla Hanover in 1:54.4. She used the rail to her advantage last week and will likely leave for early position again this week.
On the season, Hip Huggers has made the board in 65 percent of her 17 starts and has collected $28,175 on the year.
Newcomer Kelsi Danielle is the second choice on the morning line at odds of 7-2. The three-year-old filly finished second last week at Indiana Downs in a $15,000 conditioned/claiming event where she paced her mile in 1:54.1. Kelsi Danielle will need to have one of her best performances to be a factor for Todd Cummings.
I Need New Nykes finished fourth in last week’s Fillies and Mares Preferred pace for Doug Snyder. This week Brian Zendt will drive, but is saddled with post position eight. If Zendt decides to leave for early position, I Need New Nykes is capable of upsetting Hip Huggers. I Need New Nykes is having the best racing season of her career. She has five wins in 36 starts and has banked $36,384 on the year.
Post time for Friday’s 14 race program is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. (EST).
