Allamerican Coed (2) wins the first division of the $366,700 Bluegrass – Southwind Farm freshman filly pace for George Brennan in 1:53.4.
Lexington, KY — Allamerican Coed, Western Cruise and Fast Ruffles won divisions of Wednesday’s $366,700 Bluegrass – Southwind Farm two-year-old filly pace at The Red Mile.
Allamerican Coed ($7.60) paced behind unbeaten Thereal Ideal until deep stretch, popped to the outside, and scooted home by a half length over Bound For Glory and Thereal Ideal in 1:53.4. The victory was Allamerican Coed’s fourth in eight career starts for trainer Mark Harder. George Brennan drove the first division winner for owners John Felding, Sampson Street Stable and Jerry Arno. The victory pushed the Dragon Again filly’s earnings to $112,149.
Brittany Farms’ homebred Western Cruise ($3.00) held off a furious late charge from Arts Bid to win the second division by a half length in 1:53.3. The winner, trained by Bob McIntosh and driven by Steve Condren, picked up her second straight stakes victory having won last week’s $131,786 Harvest Stake at Mohawk Racetrack. Western Cruise now has winnings of $154,643.
Fast Ruffles ($10.00) lowered her lifetime record by almost five seconds in winning the final division by 10 and one-half lengths in 1:52 flat. The Western Hanover filly, owned by Frederick Hertrich and Lewis Arno, was making only her fifth career start. The victory came over Blue Artist and Magical Western. Fast Ruffles is trained by Brett Pelling and was driven by Ron Pierce.
Racing resumes on Thursday afternoon with three divisions of the $327,000 Bluegrass – Walnut Hall Ltd. two-year-old colt trot. The race features the colt Ken Warkentin, winner of six of seven starts and $325,790.
Three-year-old fillies highlight Friday’s card. Stakes winners Housethatruthbuilt, Silver Springs and Mystical Sunshine will compete in the $208,000 Bluegrass – Yankeeland Farm three-year-old filly trot and Jugette winner Glowing Report and Nadia Lobell queen Kikikatie will race in the $191,400 Bluegrass – Winbak-Stonegate three-year-old filly pace.
