Saratoga Springs, NY — Ahundreddollarbill turned in a track record performance in Tuesday afternoon’s (July 20) $156,600 New York Sire Stakes for 3-year-old trotting colts and geldings at Saratoga Casino Hotel.
Andy McCarthy wasted very little time moving 1-5 favorite Ahundreddollarbill to the front end despite drawing post seven in the eight-horse field. The Chapter Seven-Swinging Royalty gelding powered through a :27.1 first quarter before reaching the half in :56.1. From there, he cruised to a measured 1-1/2-length victory, his sixth in seven starts this season, in 1:54. Dewey Arnold (Jason Bartlett) sat the pocket and finished a strong second, while Balenciaga (Wally Hennessey) earned the show spot.
Tony Alagna trains Ahundreddollarbill, who now has seasonal earnings of over $310,000, for Crawford Farms Racing and James Crawford IV. To date this season, Ahundreddollarbill has lowered track records at Vernon Downs and Yonkers Raceway in addition to his 1:54 mile at Saratoga, which erased Dayson’s divisional record established in August 2016.
Live racing at Saratoga resumes on Saturday evening (July 24), when the 12th annual Joe Gerrity Jr. Memorial Pace, which has attracted some of the top pacers in North America and carries a $150,000 purse, highlights a 15-race program. First post time is set for 6:45 p.m.
