The Stay Hungry sophomore gelding Snack Attack equaled the fastest mile ever paced in a Pennsylvania Stallion Series Championship event, 1:50, and his filly counterpart, the Tall Dark Stranger miss Ballast, equaled the fastest StS Championship win for her sex, 1:50.2, as on Monday afternoon (Sept. 8) as Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania hosted eight $40,000 Championships of the Pennsylvania Stallion Series, for horses just a notch below the level their world-class Sire Stakes classmates occupy.

On Monday (Sept. 8) Dancin Champion collected his third consecutive triumph in the $35,000 third round leg of the Kentucky Sire Stakes for older male pacers at The Red Mile by a head in 1:50.1. Fearless Bettor visited the winner’s enclosure for the first occasion this season in the counterpart for older female pacers after a victory in 1:50.2. The facility’s third leading driver, Todd McCarthy, steered each winner and had three stakes-winning drives on the day.

Zapaca (Leon Bailey) captures the $8,500 Open Trot at Vernon Downs on Friday (Sept. 5).

Over $1.5 million in purses was offered at Harrah’s Philadelphia on Friday afternoon (Sept. 5), with the bulk of the bounty being distributed in four $300,000 Championships of the Pennsylvania Sire Stakes for 2-year-olds. In addition to the big-money finales, there were $50,000 consolations for each division, along with $100,000 in three races for fast-class older performers.

Tres Chic Bluechip brushed late from off the pace to score an upset in the $12,800 Open I-II pace for fillies and mares at Batavia Downs on Monday (Sept. 1) afternoon.

Andrew Glassmeyer’s Sweet Angel Boy ($6.20, Ross Wolfenden) was a 1:51.3 winner in the $18,000 Open Monday (Sept. 1) at Harrington Raceway.

On Monday (Sept. 1), Carve collected her first career victory in the fourth-round leg of the $80,000 Kentucky Championship Series for freshman filly trotters in 1:52.3 at The Red Mile. The 12-race holiday card included fourth round divisions of the $30,000 Kentucky Commonwealth Series, the $15,000 Kentucky Golden Rod Series and the $10,000 Wildcat Series with 2-year-old filly trotters at the forefront.

Canada’s fastest trotter Lexus Kody and multi-millionaire Periculum have been named the final two horses for the $1,000,000 MGM Yonkers International Trot. The pair now complete a 10-horse field that will compete on September 13 at MGM Yonkers Raceway in the 1-1/4 mile classic.
