Two divisions of the $18,000 condition claiming pace were contested on Friday (Nov. 21) at Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway, where a pair of sophomore pacing geldings used similar trips to capture their respective divisions in identical 1:51.4 miles.
Three repeat winners in Philly Claiming Series
No horse won in both the first and second preliminary leg of the pacing series for $10,000-valued horses at Harrah’s Philadelphia, but in Friday’s (Nov. 21) third and last prelim three horses added a second series win to their resume and established themselves as big contenders for the $12,500 Series Championship on Sunday (Nov. 30).

Don and David Wiest’s Tuis Star rolled to her fifth consecutive win in the second of two $20,000 second-round Delaware Standardbred Breeders’ Fund (DSBF) events for 2-year-old trotting fillies on Monday (Nov. 17) at Bally’s Dover and, in doing so, stamped herself as the likely odds-on favorite in next week’s $110,000 series final with what was her fifth consecutive victory.
USTA Racing Official Continuing Education Concludes
A two-day Racing Officials Continuing Education Seminar—presented by the U.S. Trotting Association and hosted at Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway—concluded Monday (Nov. 17). The seminar was led by USTA COO TC Lane and Racetrack Operations and Licensing Manager Michele Kopiec as well as Shane Bacon (Executive Director of the Maine State Racing Commission), Casey Larson (Presiding Judge for the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission) and Doug Thomas (Presiding Judge for the Ohio Harness Racing Commission). Racing officials representing 11 states participated in the program, which featured in-depth discussions focused on regulatory consistency, communication standards, and matters concerning equine health and welfare.
Lyons Music shocks in Winter is Coming Final
The Monday afternoon (Nov. 17) features at Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania on a chilly day proved exciting contests, each decided by a neck. Two of the trio of features were won by the favorite, while the third winner paid $106.20 – while being driver by meet leader Tyler Buter.
