With two races on the card Saturday night, the MADC races didn’t disappoint with both events coming down to a photo finish with the winning margins a nose and neck.

Mercutio kept his perfect streak going at Buffalo Raceway on Saturday evening as he made it three straight victories by claiming the co-featured $14,000 Open Trot. He beat a hard charging R Royal Port by a length in 1:57.1 over the fast track.

On Saturday afternoon at Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania, a brief but intense downpour came in the middle of the second preliminary round action of the Pennsylvania Sire Stakes and Pennsylvania Stallion Series for 3-year-old pacing fillies, but the quality of the top misses still shone through.

The Meadowlands’ Breakfast with the Babies, sponsored by Jules Siegel’s Fashion Farms, caught yet another perfect Saturday morning.

Four divisions of the Buckeye Stallion Series for 3-year-old filly pacers were held Friday (June 21) at Eldorado Scioto Downs. Fearless Ginger was the only repeat winner in this second leg while three other winners found the winner’s circle for the first time in BSS action.

Ideal weather conditions with a sunny sky, temperatures in the low nineties, and a balmy breeze of 10 miles per hour coupled with a very fast track set the stage for the Illinois Department of Agriculture sponsored Violet and Cardinal stake events for ICF 3-year-olds of both gaits at Springfield on Friday (June 21).

Driver Mark Athearn and trainer Gretchen Athearn swept a pair of Maine Sire Stakes trotting events on Friday at Cumberland Raceway, recreating a similar instance last season where the same two youngsters won their stakes debuts on the same day.

With three races on the card Friday night, the Mid-Atlantic Amateur Drivers Club races went back to their norm, with favorites losing in all three races.
