U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals finds HISA constitutional again
After a review of the case referred by the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled on Wednesday (Dec. 17) that the Horseracing Integrity and Safety Act is constitutional.
Yonkers Friday Pick-4 and Pick-5 guaranteed pools
Bettors will have a chance at some pre-holiday cash on Friday (Dec. 19) at MGM Yonkers Raceway, as in conjunction with the Standardbred Owners Association of New York, the early Pick-4 that starts in race one will have a $10,000 guaranteed pool and the Pick-5 pool in race five will be guaranteed at $20,000. Since the 2025 meet ends on Friday, the Pick-5 also has a mandatory payout.

Weaver-Bruscemi/Burke – the amalgam of Weaver-Bruscemi LLC (Mark Weaver and Mike Bruscemi) and Burke Racing Stable LLC (Weaver-Bruscemi along with the Burke family matriarch Sylvia) – did well in Dan Patch Awards announced earlier in the week by the United States Harness Writers Association (USHWA), and now they have established a breeding operation, largely of former racehorse stars, which has risen enough to be honored with Dan Patch Breeders Awards.

Auctioneer missed reserve leads to lawsuit
According to Thoroughbred Daily News, Val D’Or Farms has filed a civil complaint in Kentucky after bidding on and purchasing a filly, Philly’s Sting, for $15,000 via proxy at the Lexington Selected Yearling Sales Company sale.
