William Wellwood, Peaceful Way elims complete
Short prices landed in the pair of C$30,000 eliminations for the William Wellwood Memorial on Saturday night (Aug. 17) at Woodbine Mohawk Park while both C$30,000 eliminations for the Peaceful Way saw upsets.
Scioto Invitationals produce fast miles
The Saturday (Aug. 17) card at Eldorado Scioto Downs started off hot with a 1:49 opening race, but even a power surge delay followed by a rain delay couldn’t dampen the racing events to come later in the card. Seafire, a 4-year-old Ohio-sired horse, won the $100,000 #SendItIn Invitational Pace in 1:48, and Twin B Joe Fresh took the $100,000 Cleopatra Invitational, for mares, setting a new track record of 1:48.2 for older distaffers.
May Baby best in Tioga trot
May Baby and driver Braxten Boyd captured the $15,000 Open Handicap Trot at Tioga Downs on Saturday (Aug. 17).
Fast Choice stays unbeaten with Vernon NYSS win
Fast Choice and driver Doug McNair captured the $110,100 New York Sire Stakes (NYSS) for 2-year-old pacing colts and geldings on Saturday (Aug. 17) at Vernon Downs.
Let’s Go Endofaera romps in Indiana Sires Stakes

Two repeat winners in Batavia Downs features
A pair of $13,500 co-features topped the Saturday (Aug. 17) card at Batavia Downs, and the victorious parties of both events were no stranger to the winner’s circle.
Pembroke Scorpio on winning track at Skowhegan (Maine)
Pembroke Scorpio won for the seventh time over the Skowhegan State Fair half-mile oval with a 1:59 win on Friday (Aug. 16). It’s a pretty remarkable feat considering he’s only raced over that track 11 times during his career. And with one of those early efforts at Skowhegan resulting in a shortly-held divisional track record of 1:53.1, it seems like the now 13-year-old has saved some of his best efforts for this particular stop on the Maine fair circuit.
Freshman fillies fly Friday at Scioto
Two-year-old filly pacers held court at Eldorado Scioto Downs on Friday (Aug. 16) in Ohio Sires Stakes action, and both winners — The Word Is Out and Odds On Hialeah — took their $65,000 divisions in 1:53.
The One Where Chandler Bing Springs an Indiana Sires Stakes Upset
If you backed Chandler Bing on Friday (Aug. 16) at Harrah’s Hoosier Park, he was there for you with a 62-1 upset in his third-leg Indiana Sires Stakes division for 2-year-old pacing colts. Meanwhile, the aptly-named Hopeyaliketheshow followed suit with a mild 7-2 upset of his own in the second split.
