Beach Glass to stand at Winbak Farm of Canada in 2024

Winbak Farm of Canada is excited to announce that Beach Glass p,2,1:51.1s; 3,1:47.2 ($1,112,544) will stand at the Ontario location starting in 2024.

Pat Woods, Winbak Farm of Canada Manager, describes Beach Glass as “the last son of the legendary Somebeachsomewhere, embodying an ideal blend of looks, speed, and an exceptional pedigree.”

Despite limited starts at two, Beach Glass made a significant impact, winning his first three races at Woodbine Mohawk Park. His third victory, by 9-1/4 lengths in 1:51.1, was particularly impressive.

Paul MacDonell, Canadian Hall of Fame driver, noted, “The first start I drove him was his most impressive to me, because he proved that he was going to be upper class.”

“Although his starts at two were few, Beach Glass demonstrated remarkable speed and capability,” Woods adds. “At three, he triumphed in the prestigious $600,000 Meadowlands Pace final, securing the one trophy his illustrious sire never captured.”

His extraordinary achievements include wins in the North America Cup elimination, Meadowlands Pace elimination, Max Hempt Memorial, Cane Pace, Simcoe Stakes, Progress Pace elimination and final, and Adios Stake elimination.

Jack Burke, General Manager at Winbak Farm, notes, “Joining the ranks of Somebeachsomewhere sons like Captaintreacherous, Downbytheseaside, and Huntsville, Beach Glass represents an exciting opportunity for breeders to participate in the rich Ontario program and the Grand Circuit.”

Beach Glass‘ impressive lineage includes his dam, the Bettor’s Delight mare Im With Her, a half-sister to notable Standardbreds Holborn Hanover and Hyperion Hanover. His second dam, Hall of Fame inductee Hattie, and close relations to Funknwaffles and Real Nice, further highlight his exceptional breeding.

Beach Glass is a classy horse, he is very smart and easy to work with,” sated MacDonell. “He had all the attributes of his father — if he can pass those traits to his offspring like his prolific sire, I believe he should be successful.”

Yannick Gingras, Hall of Fame driver, stated, “He was a great racehorse, with a great mind, perfect body, and he always wanted to win. In my opinion, the Meadowlands Pace was his best start — he was unbelievable in the elimination and great in the final. I was proud to be able to get the win for the connections of his great sire.”

Brent MacGrath, trainer and co-owner, expressed enthusiasm about Beach Glass‘ potential as a sire. “Training Beach Glass was a joy. He’s not only physically stunning but also intelligent and well-mannered. His conformation perfectly combines his mother’s elegance with his sire’s power and muscle. Like Somebeachsomewhere, he possesses a flawless gait, high speed, and an innate desire to win.”

Gingras also remarked, “If his offspring have half his ability and his crazy talent, I just hope I get the chance to drive them. He had all the ability in the world and he was a great horse who didn’t get to reach his full potential.”

“Winbak Farm plans on breeding some of our best mares to Beach Glass,” said Joe Thomson, Winbak Farm owner. “We would like to thank the Beach Glass connections for the chance to stand one of the most exciting stallion prospects in North America.”

Beach Glass will be standing for US$7,500 at Winbak Farm of Canada. For more information on Beach Glass, please visit www.winbakfarm.com. Contact Pat Woods at 905.838.2145 for syndicate information.

MacDonell concluded, “I am glad that he is coming to Ontario. He is going to be a nice fit in the program and I am looking forward to training his babies.”
