Brett Miller crosses $100-million plateau

Grove City, OH–When driver Brett Miller crossed the finished line with Charlie May to win the $164,750 Matron Stakes 3-Year-Old Colt and Gelding Pace at Dover Downs on Thursday (Nov. 11) he also crossed the $100-million mark in earnings.

Miller, who has driven Charlie May in 24 of his 29 lifetime starts, took the son of McArdle to the lead from post seven to an opening quarter of :27. Charlie May never looked back, pacing the final half in :53 with a final quarter in :26.4, to win by a neck.

The 48-year-old Miller has now earned $100,036,518 in his career.

“It feels good to hit the milestone,” said Miller. “When I was 21 and driving one horse a week at Raceway Park, I use to think wouldn’t it be nice to win 1,000 races. To get as lucky as I have gotten, is a great feeling.”

Miller of Blacklick, Ohio, began his career in 1991. He won his first race at Northfield Park in October of 1992.

Miller’s best year was 2004 when he won 639 wins. He has 380 wins this season and is currently ranked 9th among all drivers.

In 2016, Miller had his best year in earnings, winning $7.8 million. Currently this year, he has earnings of $5,666,492.

Miller mainly drives the Ohio southern circuit which consists of Hollywood Dayton Raceway, Eldorado Scioto Downs, and Miami Valley.
