Bronx Seelster wins Meadows Open Pace on Friday

Washington, PA — Bronx Seelster launched and sustained an impressive first-over move that carried him to a narrow victory in Friday’s (Feb. 3) $21,200 Open Handicap Pace at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.

Bronx Seelster was fifth by 6 lengths when Ronnie Wrenn Jr. sent him after the leader, Sandbetweenmytoes. It took nearly every inch of the stretch, but Bronx Seeleter finally poked his head in front to defeat Sandbetweenmytoes in 1:52.1. Surreal Ideal finished third in the Lightning Lane.

Ron Burke trains Bronx Seelster, a 7-year-old son of Big Jim-Baccarat who pushed his career bankroll to $740,579, for Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi and Phillip Collura.

Wrenn notched four wins on the 13-race card, giving him 11 for the three-day racing week, while Burke fashioned a triple.
