Well-known local horseman Perry E. Buddy Simpson, 93, of Fairfield, passed away on Monday (Oct. 30), at the VA Medical Center in Marion, IL.

As a guest of the United States Trotting Association, the National Racing Compact will be sending its Executive Director Patrick Thompson to the Standardbred Horse Sale on Nov. 7 and 8 to provide fingerprinting services, process new applications, add jurisdictions for existing members and answer any general questions that horsemen may have about licensing.

Jon Erdner, the owner of Dan Patch Trotter of the Year Jujubee 2,1:59.1f; 3,1:49.3 ($1,228,809), has announced that Jujubee will stand his first season at stud in 2024 in Indiana at Ivy Lane Farm. The only 3-year-old trotter to record two sub-1:50 miles and the only Trotter of the Year to ever stand in Indiana, his fee has been set at $4,000.
