The tradition of harness racing continues on opening day (Wednesday, Aug. 2) at the Tioga County Fairgrounds in Owego, N.Y.

Warren County Fair continues rich tradition
Since 1852 the Warren County Fair has been held off North Broadway in Lebanon, Ohio, and a lot of people over the years have put their time and energies into it. And none perhaps as much as longtime fair official/breeder/owner/trainer and family patriarch, Maynard Hagemeyer, who just recently passed this week. So, it was fitting that Thursday (July 20) two-card race day be held at the track that he called home in honor of him for a job, and a life, well done.
Many fast miles at Ottawa County Fair
Good weather and a well-manicured track made for many fast miles during the two-day meet at the Ottawa County Fair at Oak Harbor, Ohio on Monday (July 17) and Tuesday (July 18). Five races went in less than 2:00 with many more “knocking on the door.”
Oak Harbor hosts OFRC stakes
The Tuesday (July 18) 11-race card at the Ottawa County Fair had to begin without a starting gate for the first two races but everyone took it in stride and fans were witnesses to “the old fashioned way” as the Judges in the booth lined up the horses and started them together.
Wednesday post time at Washington Court House changed
Post time on Wednesday (July 19) at Washington Court House, Ohio, has been changed from 5 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Venier Hanover, Cruiserwillwin, Bet On Tom impress at Meadville
After getting rained out on Thursday at Hughesville, the Pennsylvania fair circuit had a dry weekend at the home track of the late great Boots Dunn, the Crawford County Fair in this northwest Pennsylvania city, for a two-day Sire Stakes event on Saturday (July 15) and Sunday (July 16).
Cruiserwillwin stars Wednesday; Thursday rained out at Hughesville Fair
After a successful day of racing 3-year-olds on a Wednesday (July 12) twilight card, the Pennsylvania fair circuit finally ran afoul of Mother Nature, as rain washed out the Thursday (July 13) twilight session for 2-year-olds to mark the first cancellation of a session on the Keystone twice-around circuit this summer.
