The Pennsylvania fair circuit pulled into this borough south and roughly halfway between Pittsburgh and Harrisburg for a two-card fair meet, but wet weather caused the Thursday (July 17) card, to be devoted to 2-year-olds, to have to cancel, the first of the Pennsylvania season. Harrington Raceway’s richest program of the season was contested on opening night of the Delaware State Fair Thursday (July 17) with an 11-race card.

The overcast skies did not deter harness racing fans from attending the races at the Davis County Fair on Wednesday (July 16). With a boisterous crowd cheering on their favorites, 2-year-old trotters took the field in race two, the Carol Paris Memorial.
