No Name Yankee equals PA Fairs trot mark with 1:58.2 at Bloomsburg
Trainer/driver Roger Hammer alone held the all-age trotting mark at the Pennsylvania Fairs for almost seventeen years, ever since his veteran Shark Kosmos went over the Gratz strip in 1:58.2 in 2003. (The year before, after an accident at Gratz involving Shark Kosmos, Hammer had to be medically-helicoptered off the track; they told him he probably could walk again in about six weeks, and naturally Roger was back driving in five.)
Historic Track hosts New York County Fair finals
History was made Sunday (Sept. 6) in Orange County, N.Y., as Goshen Historic Track hosted the New York County Fair Finals. For the first — and probably only — time ever, the eight races, which each sported a purse of $10,000, for 2- and 3-year-olds of both gaits and sex divisions, ended the County Fair season at “The Cradle of the Trotter.”
