Dancin Champion, Fearless Bettor take charge at The Red Mile
On Monday (Sept. 8) Dancin Champion collected his third consecutive triumph in the $35,000 third round leg of the Kentucky Sire Stakes for older male pacers at The Red Mile by a head in 1:50.1. Fearless Bettor visited the winner’s enclosure for the first occasion this season in the counterpart for older female pacers after a victory in 1:50.2. The facility’s third leading driver, Todd McCarthy, steered each winner and had three stakes-winning drives on the day.

The post position draws for Saturday’s (Sept. 13) $1 million Grade 1 MGM Yonkers International Trot and the Grade 2 $200,000 Bob Miecuna Invitational Trot and Aria Invitational Pace will be held Tuesday (Sept. 9) at Zero Otto Nove in Tuckahoe, N.Y.

This past weekend’s American Harness Drivers Club (AHDC) action saw four different drivers win in the four events spanned across two tracks over two days, with Scott Keppler and Anthony Verruso winning in the AHDC trots at Mohegan Pennsylvania’s Pocono Downs on Saturday (Sept. 6) and with Frank Tsipouras and Yogi Sheridan winning in the AHDC paces at Harrah’s Philadelphia on Sunday (Sept. 7).

The Pennsylvania fair racing circuit shifted to this Pennsylvania borough about 35 miles north of state capital Harrisburg for a “two-day event” on Saturday and Sunday, and the Schadel brothers, Todd and Tony, already among the leaders on the circuit and here getting a taste of “home cooking,” were the dominant figures in the winner’s circle, including a sweep of the seven “A” 3-year-old Fair Sire Stakes on Sunday.
Dream Mine wins Swedish Trotting Derby
The Swedish Trotting Derby at Jägersro in Malmö, with a first prize of $425,000 for 4-year-old trotters, had Bullet The Bluesky (Readly Express) with its trainer Daniel Wäjersten as the big favorite, but Bullet The Bluesky made a break from the start and was disqualified.
