Batavia Downs kicked off Western New York Racing Series Monday
On Monday (Jan. 23), Batavia Downs began a four-week Pop-Up Racing Series for Western New York-based Trackmaster pacers and trotters with preliminary leg classes going for between $6,000 and $9,000 each (depending on class). Results from USTA District 3 meeting in Sacramento
Columbus, OH – Members from the United States Trotting Association’s District 3 gathered on Sunday (January 22) at the Hilton Arden West in Sacramento, California for the district’s annual meeting. Helmed by district chairman Ivan Axelrod and fellow directors Ben Kenney and David Siegel, the session saw the group debate 18 rule changes and three bylaw proposals. In the end, 10 were accepted and 10 were rejected, with one submission tabled for further discussion. Axelrod was re-elected to another terms as district chairman.
Ron Merritt wins Michigan Dan Rathka Memorial Award
Ron Merritt from Michigan was named the Dan Rathka Memorial Award as the Michigan Horseman of the Year for 2022. Presentation of the award was made by past Hall of Fame and Rathka Award winners Saturday night at the MHHA annual banquet.
