The Meadowlands will adopt the “purse by field size” format for all open class races beginning next weekend. Director of Racing Scott Warren has set the number at $4,500 per starter for the top class and $3,500 for one class below. It will apply to all open class races including pacing mare and trotters.

When the starting gate swings open for the first time for 2023 live harness racing season at Buffalo Raceway on Saturday, March 4, there will be plenty of optimism in the air.

Due to the impeding ice storm which will hit Southwestern Ontario beginning this afternoon, Wednesday night’s race program at The Raceway has been cancelled. Simulcasting will also be closed today due to the expected unsafe travel conditions.

The Woodbine Standardbred Race Office today announced increases in claiming prices for several classes at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

Due to the pending ice storm expected to hit southwestern Ontario on Wednesday (Feb. 22) into Thursday (Feb. 23), The Raceway has switched both its training and qualifying until Friday (Feb. 24) of this week.

Woodbine Mohawk Park’s Race Office has announced the addition of a Free For All Pace, Mare Pace and Trot, each with a purse of C$6,000 per horse entered, to its condition sheet.

The 2023 harness racing season begins on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 17) at Pocono Downs at Mohegan Pennsylvania.
