Chase H Hanover had to pace a :26.1 opening panel to reach the point, but once Dave Palone gave him a :29 second-quarter breather, the race for win was effectively over. The 5-year-old Captaintreacherous-Calgary Hanover gelding triumphed in 1:50.1, 1-1/4 lengths better than the pocket-sitting Liteningonthebeach. Bereaved Hanover rallied for show.

Virgil Morgan, Jr. trains Chase H Hanover, who now boasts a career bankroll of $918,377, for Bottom Line Racing LLC and Carl Howard.
