Ciuffetelli doubles in GSY Series

East Rutherford, NJ — Tony Ciuffetelli scored a driving double on Friday night (June 25) at The Meadowlands as the GSY Series hosted their final events for amateur drivers before taking a break until the fall.

The third race was scratched to a field of seven trotters, but despite the short field and favorite Justlikehim (James Foley) breaking just after the start, the customary speed duel ensued as the gate opened. Joe Pennacchio and Bob Hechkoff left hard for the lead and dueled through a swift :27.3 opening quarter. Hechkoff and Southwind Frost took charge, but were hounded at the half as Joe Lee and Dew Can Dew challeneged before taking the lead as the field turned for home. Dew Can Dew was soon collared on the outside by Ciuffetelli and Theresademoninme, who prevailed by a length in 1:55.4.

Theresademoninme, a 10-year-old Kadabra gelding, is trained by Amanda Kelley for the Schiegert Racing Stable.

The fifth race featured 10 pacers and, just as in the trot, several horses left hard for the lead. Dave Yarock gunned Sammy B Happy to the lead through a swift :26.3 first quarter, but they were overtaken by Ciuffetelli and Windemere Frank at the half. Once on top, the 4-year-old Malicious gelding remained there, winning by two lengths in 1:53.1 over Titus Seelster (Lee) and Marvalous One (Foley) in 1:53.1.
