Competition heats up for New York Sire Stakes “Day of Champions”

Yonkers, NY — New York’s most prestigious harness racing series will host its “Day of Champions” on Saturday (Sept. 9) at Yonkers Raceway at Empire City Casino. The top 2- and 3-year-old performers of the New York Sire Stakes series will go head-to-head in eight finals for a chance to be named 2023 Sire Stakes champion. Each race will compete for $225,000.

“We have seen some extraordinary performances leading up to the finals, and so we are bound to have some incredible displays of competition at Yonkers this weekend,” said Ralph Scunziano, Executive Director of the Agriculture & NYS Horse Breeding Development Fund. “Thank you to everyone that participated in the Sire Stakes series this year. We send our congratulations and best of luck to all of the owners, trainers and drivers who have made it to the top of New York’s premier harness racing program.”

All racing fans are welcome to attend at Yonkers or enjoy via simulcast and wager on a competitive day of harness racing. Post time is scheduled for 12:15 p.m., with the 1-1/4 mile, $1 million Yonkers International Trot scheduled for 3 p.m.
